I was pondering what I could record from my life, and I decided to document my diet.
My age is 23, Asian, 5.8ft(177cm), 143lb(65kg) - Skeletal Muscle Mass is 70lb, wearing glasses (ye I do look a nerd).
Recently, I came across the Carnivore diet, and I became interested in seeing if a meat-only diet is truly beneficial for health and affordable.
Prior to the Carnivore, or Lion diet, I had been following a keto diet that includes plenty of vegetables with every meal, which was relatively healthy.
Day 1 began on Sunday, August 11, 2024
August 11, 2024 (Sun) – September 9, 2024 (Tue)
The first week was tough, as my digestive system had to adjust to the animal-based diet. During the first week, as my gut adapted to the new diet, I experienced a range of symptoms from acne breakouts to frequent diarrhea, which left me quite drained. Unsurprisingly, I lost weight within a few days.
The hardest part of the adjustment wasn’t physical fatigue but mental stress, and the main culprit was sugar. Sugar addiction. The withdrawal symptoms were so severe that just seeing a jar of honey made my mouth water as if I could taste sweetness. There was a time when I couldn’t resist and indulged in cookies and cake, but the next day, I had severe stomach pain and felt sluggish.
Over time, it became uncomfortable to eat anything other than meat. Whenever I ate foods or snacks I used to enjoy, I would inevitably have diarrhea the next day. At some point, I became accustomed to and comfortable with eating just meat, salt, and butter.
I couldn’t say that I felt particularly energetic or upbeat, but I did feel a certain level of comfort eating only meat. My skin seems to have cleared up somewhat (though I still have some blemishes). Next month, I plan to stick mainly to meat, eggs, butter, salt, and honey.
However, after consistently eating meat, it became challenging to socialize with others during shared meals. Eventually, I had to give up on these social dining experiences. I believed that investing in my health while I’m young is the best decision.
In summary: The first week was tough, but it’s possible to live on just meat. It’s actually cost-effective (both money and cooking time). Social interactions are limited though.
[DIET DIARY]
Day 1(08.11.2024 Sun):
Weight before dinner: 65.8kg. Started with raw beef and rump steak for lunch, and for dinner. I ate mainly meat, salt, and water. Just eating meat is allowed! I began Day 1 with excitement. Aside from a pimple under my right eye caused by eating MrBeast's peanut chocolate, which I popped, everything is fine.
Day 2:
I got through lunch and dinner eating only meat, butter, salt, and water. I'm starting to crave sugar.
Day 3:
Morning weight: 64.5kg. For lunch, I cooked the meat with butter without draining the blood, so it ended up boiling. The meat was rump steak, making it tough and hard to eat. I'm starting to have loose stools, and some pimple-like spots are appearing on my face. I’m not sure if my body is reacting to the fatty food or if it's just adjusting to a new gut environment. Only time will tell.
Day 4:
Morning weight: 63.8kg, evening weight: 64.6kg. Ate meat, butter, eggs, salt, and water. The pimples on my chin and right cheek are becoming more noticeable. I had diarrhea. I've never craved sugar this much before. Watching a chocolate cake mukbang, it feels like I can taste sweetness rising from my throat. Even the water tastes sweet.
Day 5:
Morning weight: 63.8kg, evening weight: 64.3kg. For lunch, I had a short strip of pork belly with the skin, a soft-boiled fried egg, meat, salt, and water. I'm using Himalayan salt, by the way. For dinner, a friend treated me to Mexican food, so I avoided most vegetables and focused on eating meat, beans, rice, and guacamole (plus one nacho chip with salsa). The biggest drawback of a strict carnivorous diet is how limiting it becomes during social meals.
Day 6:
Morning weight: 64.1kg, evening weight: 64.6kg. For both lunch and dinner, I air-fried one strip each of picanha and pork belly at 400°F for 20 minutes—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. I also had two fried eggs for dinner. I'm feeling quite a bit better than yesterday. Even though I haven't had a bowel movement, my body feels light, and my face hasn't broken out further. But I still have an intense sugar craving—there's a jar of honey in front of me, and I’m dying to have just one drop on my tongue.
Day 7:
Morning weight: 63.8kg, evening weight: 64.6kg. For lunch, I had rump steak, pork belly, and liver. For dinner, I ate a lot of pork belly, but it was more overwhelming than expected, so I decided to add a bit of variety and ordered sparkling water—just water with bubbles, no additives. My acne is gradually subsiding, and my body doesn’t feel sluggish. Interestingly, I haven't had a bowel movement or much gas for the past two days, yet there are no signs of digestive issues. It's fascinating—maybe fiber was really the culprit behind gas.
Day 8:
Morning weight: 64.2kg, evening weight: 65.1kg. I mainly ate beef cooked in the air fryer for both lunch and dinner. Since lunch was a bit light, I gave in and ate a piece of dark chocolate with honey. For dinner, I had beef with oxtail soup, including gelatinous cuts, and paired it with sparkling water. My acne has greatly improved, and this marks the third day without a bowel movement. I have a feeling that tomorrow I’ll finally have a good one.
Day 9:
Morning weight: 64.3kg, evening weight: 65.1kg. For lunch, I had a bite of pork ribs, oxtail soup, beef, and one egg. For dinner, I ate beef chuck flap tail, neck bone oxtail soup, a piece of picanha boiled beef, and three eggs. After three days, I finally had a normal bowel movement this morning. Since I had a light lunch, I ended up eating more eggs at dinner. I’m craving fresh, high-quality meat.
Day 10:
Morning weight: 64.2kg, evening weight: 64.7kg. For lunch, I had picanha boiled beef and skirt steak, but the picanha had gone bad. Ordering meat online definitely has its limits when it comes to checking the quality. I think it's best to buy meat in person, but there's no butcher shop nearby. Around 3 PM, I started feeling unwell, and a headache came on. For dinner, I ate 0.8lb of ribeye steak cooked in the air fryer. Finally, around 9 PM, I had diarrhea and felt detoxed.
Day 11:
Morning weight: 64kg, evening weight: 65.3kg. For lunch, I ate about 1.5 pounds of beef. For dinner, I went to a buffet with a friend, and I indulged for the first time in a while. I had an English muffin burger with jalapenos, cheese, and a patty, a meat pie made with layers of seasoned ground meat and thick potatoes, long strips of pork mixed with onions, soy sauce, and asparagus, two hard-boiled eggs with a refreshing tangy flavor, a piece of chicken breast that tasted mild, almost hard to tell if it was fruit or vegetable, a couple of green and orange melon slices, a spoonful of creamy penne pasta, a spoonful of mac and cheese, a slice of pizza with bulgogi, pepperoni, and ham, a forkful of mysterious buckwheat-colored noodles, a spoonful of fried rice, chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream, rice pudding that wasn’t too sweet or strong but heavy in calories, a long banana, an apple as red as Snow White’s lips, oat crackers mixed with honey, a donut topped with bright pink frosting, a chocolate donut with liquid chocolate in the middle, a chocolate chip cookie perfect for warm milk, a clean and sweet glass of chocolate milk, and a glass of fruit-infused water. Wow… I ate sugar for the first time in a while, and it was overwhelming. It felt good while eating, but as time passes, I feel heavier. Whether my body reacts directly will be clear tomorrow. Now I see how easy it is to gain weight. People who can control their appetite are truly amazing. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to control mine completely.
Day 12:
Morning weight: 64.7kg, evening weight: 66kg. When I woke up, I felt cramps in my stomach. For lunch, I ate buffet-style tacos at school, piling on ground meat, and had a ribeye steak I brought with me. During the school's welcome event, I ended up eating oat cookies, Oreos, Ritz, and Nutella sticks—around 700-800 kcal in total. For dinner, I ate a lot of short ribs. My body, especially around my lower abdomen, feels heavy from the snacks I couldn't resist. The taste wasn’t overly sweet, similar to Korean snacks. I noticed a pimple-like bump on my left hand. I haven’t had a bowel movement for the past two days.
Day 13:
Morning weight: 65kg / Evening weight: 66.2kg Lunch: 1lb of sirloin beef / Dinner: tteokbokki, fried food, fish cakes, fruit, and processed snacks Bowel Movement: beforenoon, mild poop Notes: a social event at dinner.
Day 14 (08.24.2024 Sat):
Morning weight: 65.7kg / Evening weight: 66kg Lunch: Ribeye steak / Dinner: A hot dog before dinner, and over 1lb of chuck Bowel Movement: N/A Notes: Couldn't refuse the hot dog due to social circumstances. It’s clearly a social interaction issue. I don't cheat when I’m alone. I have a feeling I might eat fruit tomorrow.
Day 15:
Weight: Morning: 65.5kg / Night: 66.3kg Diet: Lunch: over 1lb of beef chuck, one finger-sized piece of chocolate + honey / Dinner: Over 0.5lb ofchuck, two finger-sized pieces of chocolate + honey Bowel Movement: morning, solid Notes: Around 3 PM, I had two handfuls of grapes and four slices of watermelon, and around 4 PM, a sweet espresso at a café... (I couldn't resist the chocolate, so I ate it).
Day 16:
Weight: Morning: 65.3kg / Night: 66.1kg Diet: Lunch: Over 1lb of chuck / Dinner: Less than 0.5lb of chuck, pork rib rice bowl, mango lassi Bowel Movement: Twice; morning solid, night loose Notes: Chose the pork rib rice bowl as the most suitable option due to a dinner appointment. Felt a signal in my stomach.
Day 17:
Weight: Morning: 65.6kg / Night: 66.1kg Diet: Lunch: chuck / Dinner: top round and sirloin Bowel Movement: N/A Notes: Had a slight craving for honey during lunch.

Weight: Morning: 66.1kg / Night: 66.3kg Diet: Lunch: Sirloin + one leftover piece of chicken from yesterday / Dinner: Ribeye steak Bowel Movement: Once in the afternoon after lunch, and diarrhea at night Notes: I have cravings for bread and sugar.
Day 22:
Weight: Morning: 65.4kg / Night: 66.2kg Diet: Lunch: 1lb of beef sirloin + a few pieces of Oreos and Ritz / Dinner: 1lb of beef sirloin Bowel Movement: N/A Notes: Butter and Himalayan salt are essential when cooking meat. I was offered and ate a few slices of watermelon and a small, palm-sized piece of bread as a snack during the day.

Day 24:
Weight: Morning: 65.3kg / Night: 65.6kg Diet: Lunch: 1lb of sirloin with butter / Dinner: 1lb of sirloin with butter, but I started to get tired of it, so I spread honey on the last piece. Bowel Movement: Diarrhea after midnight, and again at lunch Notes: My stomach felt irritated all morning, likely due to the spicy and stimulating food I ate yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve been so glad to eat meat and butter.
Day 25:
Weight: Morning: 65.5kg / Night: 66.1kg Diet: Lunch: 1lb of sirloin / Dinner: 1lb of sirloin Bowel Movement: N/A Notes: It feels like something is starting to appear on my skin every time I eat butter.
Day 26:
Weight: Morning: 65.2kg / Night: 65.7kg Diet: Lunch: 1lb of sirloin / Dinner: 1lb of sirloin Bowel Movement: N/A Notes: Still eating butter. I suspect the problem might be with the salt I’m using, so I’ve found a different salt and plan to start using it in a few weeks.
Day 27:
Weight: Morning: 65.1kg / Night: 66.9kg Diet: Lunch: 1lb of sirloin + liver / Dinner: 1lb of sirloin Bowel Movement: N/A Notes: Had a late-night meal at 11 PM... Ate crab in chili cream sauce, corn, baby potatoes, smoked sausage, squid, and potato wedges. It was a social gathering.
